What is gel polish?

In two words – DA BOMB!  It is applied like nail polish but then light cured under either a UV or LED light.  The result is a perfectly manicured nail with polish that is instantly dry.  How awesome is that?! Great for busy ladies who don’t have time to touch up regular polish every few days, vacations, parties, weddings, etc. Basically it’s the solution for any occasion you need long-lasting, worry-free color!

How long does it last?

Gel polish lasts anywhere from 2-4 weeks but that varies from person to person.  It depends on how much you work with your hands and how much your hands are in water.  Water dehydrates the nail which will affect your results. To counteract that, we recommend to use a high-quality Jojoba and essential oil based cuticle oil to keep your nails hydrated and your cuticles in tip-top shape.

How long is the appointment?

Appointments are roughly 45 minutes.

How is it applied?

We start off with a dry manicure to perfect the cuticles and nail shape.  The gel polish is the applied and light cured. Then TA-DA!,  your polish is dry and you’re good to go!

Will it damage my nails?

No way José!  There are of course a few little rules you have to follow.  Cuticle oil daily is a must.  Also, we recommend you never peel your gel polish off.  Just like peeling regular nail polish off your nail can peel away layers, it’s the same with gel polish.

Can I remove the gel polish myself?

We much prefer to do this for you.  Removal of product we’ve applied is always included in follow up gel polish manicures so leave it to the pros!

  • Gel polish is designed for strong, healthy nails.  If your nails are weak or damaged, you may not get the results we would like you to have.
  • Cuticle oil, cuticle oil, cuticle oil…did we mention to use cuticle oil?
  • Professional removal is the best to ensure no damage is done to the nail

What’s the difference between gel nails and gel polish?

Gel nails add length and structure to the nail whereas gel polish is a thin layer over  your nail adding no length.  There’s so many cool things you can do with gel nails such as glitter French, glitter fade, mylar, shells, marbling, etc.! Or, you can opt for a classy French finish (YAWN! – just kidding)

Maintenance is required every 2-4 weeks.

How long is the appointment?

It just depends on which one of us lovely ladies performs your service! Senior Technicians allot about 1.25-1.5 hours for a full set of nails while Junior Technicians may take up to 2 hours.

Will it damage my nails?

When done properly, no they will not damage your nails!

Can I remove them myself?

Negatory! If you would like to have your nails removed, give us a call and we can take care of that for you.

Do my nails need to breathe?

They don’t have lungs, do they?!  In all seriousness, no, your nails do not breathe.  The nail is continually growing from the matrix and replacing itself. As long as the matrix is kept healthy and in good condition from the daily use of a good cuticle oil, your nails will be fine.

What if I break one?

Give us a ring so we can fix your digit!  Wearing a Band-Aid is a big no-no as it can potentially trap moisture between the broken/lifted gel and cause a bacterial infection.  Also, gluing the nail or product back  in place is not acceptable for the same reason.

Do you use the blade?

We sure don’t!  We are proud to say we use an electric callus reducing system which puts all others to shame.  This little machine rocks our world and our clients can’t get over how soft their feet feel after.  Do yourself a favour and come check it out!
